Yakimov is very top heavy. Twice he took taps to his back in the offensive-zone slot and both times he nearly fell over.

Yakimov looks to be a rare breed of hockey player: a big man who might rather be smaller. He has decent puck skills, but his feet are so heavy, his skating so deliberate and awkward, and his lack of power in his legs makes Yakimov look as if he is constantly teetering on the verge of tipping over. Based on this viewing, I would put the probability of Yakimov becoming an NHL player at less than ten percent.

Terrible, upright and underpowered skating drags down an otherwise talented prospect. Massive frame, good hands and good vision, “Yak” can see what he needs to do and has the hands to do it, but the wheels just don’t have the ability to do what the head wants them to.
