Tkachuk uses his body well in the corners and in front of the net. Can see a lot of his father’s game in him, likely the little tips and tricks it takes to be a power forward. Has pro-style game and smarts. His skating is just good, but his solid hockey IQ and on-ice vision help bridge that gap. As others have said, he can skate to where he needs to go. Both a hard shot and soft hands, Tkachuk is cemented in the top-5 for me.

Good play at the offensive blueline to collect an off-target pass at his feet while under pressure, establish position against the defender and keep the play onsides, and then lift a long saucer pass back to his own blueline in order to reset and escape serious pressure. Such a skilled and smart play that will never get on the scoresheet.
