Has an excellent stride and tremendous calmness with the puck on his stick. Girard can be a dangerous player, but sometimes is still too risky with the puck. However, after a couple more years of development, he could become a highly sought-after middle pair NHL defender.

Girard’s offensive ability is well known and was visible on many of his shifts at NJEC. Skating backwards and defending however is another matter all together. He doesn’t have good size and coupled with a so-so defensive zone game, there is a lot of work to be done to prepare Girard for the pro game. The good news is this is completely fixable and some solid coaching and time is all that is needed. He’ll have to use some of that vision to help him in the corners but again, all correctable.
